Riding a racing bike: Ideal training area

Mild temperatures in winter, fantastic conditions in spring and autumn, moderate and demanding sections of the route in combination with a great landscape make the immediate surroundings of the Domicilio de Vida holiday home a fantastic area for sport-loving racing cyclists.

Popular racing bike competitions in the Murcia region are therefore planning their routes directly along the location of the Domicilio de Vida. Take advantage of this and get in right here.

If you don't want to train alone, there are numerous options for joining a group. Sport connects in every way - including communication. Just dare, the Spaniards are very enthusiastic about sports and hospitable, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Great panoramic views around Ricote: Senda de los Moriscos

The “Path of the Moors” offers a very beautiful, nearby and easy circular hiking trail (signage with white and yellow bars). You can start the route anywhere, but we recommend that you park your car at the sports hall in Ricote so that you can refresh yourself in the neighboring bars after the hike.

On the way there are stunning viewpoints of the Ojós reservoir (Mirador de la Fuente) and the lemon and orange fields at Ricote (Mirador del Solvente, near Casa Forestal de la Calera).

Hiking to the top: The summit of Los Almeces

A fantastic way to explore the beauty of the region is to hike directly from your holiday home to the local mountain of the Sierra de Ricote, the “Los Almeces”.

The climb to the 1,122m high summit begins just a few hundred meters from Domicilio de Vida. Follow the signs “Sendero del Barranco del Pozo” (PR-MU-10) and the signposts with white and yellow bars.

There are no places to stop for refreshments along the way or at the destination, so it is advisable to take some food with you. You will always be rewarded with impressive views and deserted, unadulterated and intact nature.

Take a short walk - Via Pecuaria at Campo de Ricote

Would you like to quickly take a few steps out of the Domicilio de Vida - alone, with your partner, with friends, with your dog? Then you will find the entrance to a paved path just 600 meters away. To do this, leave the property on the RM-B15 road to the left (towards Cieza) and then park at the bus stop on the right.

The hiking trail offers great views of the impressive landscape. Many visitors are reminded of the fascinating scenery of Morocco and – in connection with the fertile Valle de Ricote – in particular the Ounila Valley in the province of Ouarzazate.

It is also possible to use the path opposite the bus stop. This leads you, constantly uphill, until a house at the end of this one-way street as a turning point.

Spain is a very popular destination for mountain bikers all year round. The mild winter and the pleasant transitional months in particular offer ideal conditions to pursue your passion for this sport. Many of the routes with different levels of difficulty lead through impressive nature reserves.

Traveling along old disused railway routes - Murcia´s Greenways

In the Murcia region there are numerous disused railway lines that have been converted into “Vías Verdes”: kilometers of well-developed greenways that also have numerous picnic areas and seating areas that invite you to linger and enjoy the landscape.

Due to the predominantly flat course on the former railway lines, it is an ideal area for easy walks, but also long rides on touring bikes. Information boards along the way provide useful information about the length of the route, the time required on foot or by bike and about the sights in the area.

The greenways are a great opportunity for a relaxed weekend trip with family and friends as well as for sporty, ambitious explorers of a larger radius in the wonderful Murcia region.

The shortest car access to get to know a greenway is from Domicilio de Vida:

The value of an unknown mountain range – Sierra de la Pila

If you want to hike undisturbed or ride your mountain bike in a largely unknown, low-traffic mountain range, your destination is close by.

Covering an area of almost 9,000 hectares, the “Parque Regional Sierra de la Pila” offers you an extensive natural and meditation area. You will find large information boards at the car parking areas with descriptions of the well-signposted hiking trails, which can often also be used as MTB routes.

The climbs to the neighboring peaks of Los Cenajos (1,200m) and La Pila (1,264m) are very worthwhile, each with great panoramic views. It is necessary to bring food and drinks with you, as refreshments can only be found on the periphery of the park.

In the park itself there is a lovely, spacious picnic area with a fire pit and a temporarily open tourist information office at the "Área Recreativa Fuente Higuera".
Access from Domicilio de Vida via Blanca on the motorway A33 towards Jumilla, exit La Zarza (distance 41 km).
